Carolyn Barnwell - Documentary Story Teller & Life Coach

Carolyn Barnwell proudly wears many hats as a documentary storyteller & branded content video and audio producer (she has worked extensively for National Geographic), integrative life coach, voice over actor, and joy seeker. Not only that, Carolyn has been one of my closest friends since our time together at Middlebury College. I'm one of her biggest fans!

Describe your perfect day as a wildpreneur.
My perfect day starts with going through my self-care morning rituals and eating a healthy savory breakfast, followed by work that needs detailed attention or peak energy. I have deep, meaningful conversations with clients, an energizing workout to re-set my mind and body, and lunch outdoors. In the afternoon I take care of business upkeep, planning and production. I lose track of time when I’m totally engaged and focused. I end the work day feeling fulfilled that I served others well, and was able to use my intuition, creativity and logistical skills. My perfect day would continue with a family-style dinner with friends and laughter and a spacious view of the sunset. It sounds rather cliche, but I have had many days like this and they are absolutely wonderful so I plan to keep it up. :-)

Is this work your passion? What keeps you motivated?
I am fueled by joy and gratitude that I get to do what I do. It fills my tank, so to speak. My tangible sense of possibility and freedom keeps me motivated! And, more specifically, witnessing moments of awareness, connection and the transformation of other human beings.

The Awesomeness Factor - Couplepreneurs Paul Girardi & Danielle Hachey

Paul & Danielle hosted their surfing & yoga retreat at the Tailwind Jungle Lodge in 2015. I immediately fell in love with this couplepreneur duo and have since followed them to the waves of Nicaragua and to their cozy cabin in the Kootenay moutains of British Columbia. This inspiring couple recently tied the knot (congratulations newly weds! loved the pre-wedding hootenany!). I can't wait to see where their life adventures together take them...and I hope they don't mind me tagging along! Check out their interview here, you definitely don't want to miss the wildpreneur wisdom in this one :).

SweatPlayLive with Shanti Tilling

SweatPlayLive with Shanti Tilling

Shanti will wear a tank top that says “I love puppies and tacos” and then lead you through the most challenging and rewarding workout of your life. I leave Shanti’s HIIT the beach workouts (high intensity interval training) covered in sand and feeling transformed—mind and body. Shanti makes me feel strong and ALIVE. When life as a wildpreneur gets tough, there’s nothing like a good sweat with Shanti and my local amigos to remind me of what is important.

Shanti's Move Your Asana classes and the beach HIIT workouts have become a cornerstone of my jungle routine. Shanti is the founder of SweatPlayLive, which offers fitness, wellness and surf retreat as well as personal training. Shanti is one of the most inspirational, motivational and badass people I know (her life story is truly remarkable, her beauty goes way beyond the surface). She was the first wildpreneur I interviewed for my book (The Wildpreneurs, coming soon!). Get a taste of her wild inspiration below.

Party In My Plants with Talia Pollock

Party In My Plants with Talia Pollock

Take the Hell Out of Healthy Living

It's been amazing to watch Talia sprout wings and soar as a wildpreneur. I few years back I was lucky enough to be Talia's business coach/accountability buddy as she sprouted her idea for PartyInMyPlants. She's been charging forward and transforming people lives leaving a wake of happy, healthy laughter behind her ever since!

Q: Describe your perfect day as a wildpreneur.

My perfect day as a wild entrepreneur varies greatly which is a cliche and also in-keeping with the “wild” part of the equation! Entrepreneur life IS wild and there’s rarely consistency for me but my favorite days always bookend with meditation and include movement and “me” time first thing in the morning. From there it’s a combination of interviewing guests for my podcast, filming a cooking video, writing my upcoming book, swimming my way out of the email deep-end, having coaching calls with clients or meetings with collaborators, hitting the road for a speaking gig or event, or testing a recipe with Friends, an audiobook or a podcast on in the background! And plants. There are always lots of plants being eaten in between things.

As Natural as Squatting in the Woods

As Natural as Squatting in the Woods

I recently went on a canoe camping trip on Lake George in the Adirondacks of New York.  We watched the sunset over the lake, the moonrise over the mountains, and sat by the camp fire telling stories and grilling local goodies. T’was a blissful night indeed and I fell asleep with my heart full, feeling alive and inspired.

At dawn, nature called and I wandered into the woods away from my sleeping amigos. I dug a hole and began to untie my pajama pants. Suddenly I heard some twigs snap in the bushes behind me. I looked over in alarm to find that one of my amigos had followed me…my yellow lab, Paris! She wagged her tail, grinning happily. She then proceeded to spin around in a circle a few times and pop a squat right next to me. Time for her morning duty too! I rose my eyebrows and thought “why not?”
