Carolyn spent countless hours on her Watson fellowship (which took her around the world!) while I composed the business plan for the Tailwind Jungle Lodge. Carolyn patiently listened as I grappled with my fork in the road—would I head to Wall Street or the jungle? Carolyn’s free-spirit and friendship prompted me to listen to my heart and chase my dream business.

Sara’s red stilettos caught my eye in the mountains many years ago…(stilettos in the mountains?! exactly). We recently connected as fellow HarperCollins authors. Sara Schulting-Kranz is a force of inspiration, empowerment and fresh perspective. Her new book, Walk Through This, will hit the shelves on Nov. 10th (pre-order now available) and she has just emerged from 3 weeks of wilderness on the John Muir Trail in the Sierras (my favorite backpacking trip EVER!!). The Hub ADK

“You’ve gotta check out the hub” friends told me when I first arrived at Lake George a few summers ago. They were right, this place is a must go after apres bike ride in the Adirondacks (NY). Skiing is her passion, but any outdoor activity gets her stoked — rock climbing, kayaking, backpacking, and mountain biking keep her busy year-round. Mary’s recent trip to Iceland was cut a bit short (we’re all adapting in this unusual time) so she took a moment during her 2 week self-quarantine to share some of her Wildpreneur inspiration . Book tour with baby has been a wonderful adventure so far. We certainly maximized on our time in Vancouver. Jungle Baby's Birth Story

We thought it was going to be an ordinary jungle day. We were wrong.

(But really, does “ordinary” ever happen in the jungle?)

Dawn. Monsoon rains soaked the jungle canopy throughout the night. At sunrise I waddled (38 weeks pregnant) through the sticky/sweet humid air to the muddy car, prepared for a journey into Puerto Vallarta for a standard prenatal OB appointment with Dr. Laura Garcia. Walter (my Tarzan) carefully chauffeured us on the delightfully lush yet horrifically bumpy road to San Pancho. A 3-mile jungle road that ordinarily takes 15 minutes was a radically different for a pregnant passenger—nearly an hour of jostling as I cradled my beach ball belly and used my swollen feet to brace through the bumps and cobblestones. Pregnant in the jungle…what have I gotten myself into? Am I completely crazy? This is certainly not the first time I’ve wondered about sanity and Wildpreneur lifestyle! Trust the flow, I reassured myself, as I’ve done countless times before.

Polly the Wooden Sloop

I just met Polly. She's a wooden sailboat built in 1945. Peter, a friend from Telluride, is a passionate boat builder who has devoted the last 4 years of his life to restoring this sloop. I was lucky enough to be invited aboard for Polly’s first cruise.

Though I’m a land lover by nature, I opened my mind and my heart to this adventure at sea. As we cruised gracefully through the Maine Islands, my thoughts drifted with the water and the wind. I focused on being fully present with Polly and her captain. Though exhausted from the months of arduous work that lead up to Polly’s grand launch, Peter’s excitement and inspiration radiate from him tirelessly.

The Awesomeness Factor - Couplepreneurs Paul Girardi & Danielle Hachey

Paul & Danielle hosted their surfing & yoga retreat at the Tailwind Jungle Lodge in 2015. I immediately fell in love with this couplepreneur duo and have since followed them to the waves of Nicaragua and to their cozy cabin in the Kootenay moutains of British Columbia. This inspiring couple recently tied the knot (congratulations newly weds! loved the pre-wedding hootenany!). I can't wait to see where their life adventures together take them...and I hope they don't mind me tagging along!
