Jungle Vibes with Yama Yoga

Sasha has a unique light in her eyes. Though I haven’t seen her in person since she hosted her most recent jungle retreat in February 2020, I can still envision the joy and passion in her eyes. Her smile and “joie de vivre” are pure and contagious.

“The light, love, and teacher in me honors the light, love, and teacher in each of you. Let's flow together,” says Sasha.

YES! I’m definitely in. Lead on Sasha. We need your hope and spark of positive vibes now more than ever. Let’s start with the empowering dancer pose you’re rocking above and continue with your upcoming Yama Yoga retreat at the Tailwind Jungle Lodge this Feb. 7 - 12, 2021.

The jungle is more healing than ever and Sasha is ready to support us with living fully and finding balance— on and off the yoga mat. Early bird special ends November 1st! Check it out here.

Tell us about your wild business(s) and lifestyle! What was your inspiration to create Yama Yoga?

Yama Yoga was created after almost a decade working as an engineer in the corporate world. Although I loved the knowledge gained and challenges of engineering design and implementation – my passion was not awakened. I was a new Mom of two young boys and with a new perspective, I was thirsty to live fully. My true nature was to connect with people on a deeper level. I believe I was meant to be an educator, a guide, to nurture, to meet students where they are, and to have a ton of fun along the way. After much struggle and reflection for “what next”, I took a leap and became a yoga teacher. My delight to gather people, build community, teach, create and appreciate healthy meals, travel, and laugh made for a natural creation of Yama Yoga Retreats. It is a true honor to witness how these retreats serve as a conduit for my students to access joy and contentment. I feel so grateful to have this as a part of my life while also balancing the joys, challenges, and amazing adventures of being Mama to two incredible boys and a wife to my teammate, sounding board, and life partner.

Describe your perfect day as a Wildpreneur

A perfect day as a Wildpreneur is often featured during one of my yoga retreats in Colorado or Mexico (at Tailwind!). This perfect day starts by being surrounded by nature’s stunning beauty while enjoying a cup of coffee and breathing it all in. Then, I have the honor of gathering a group of amazing women and guiding them through fun flowy yoga classes, mediation, and workshops throughout the day. It is a day where there is much laughter, depth in conversation, shared meals, adventures, and one where minds and hearts expand as a community. This perfect day doesn’t feel like work at all! As the day comes to a close, I humbly reflect that I have held space for women to love, grow, and live fully.

What do you wish you’d known prior to getting started as a Wildpreneur?

Marketing and advertising knowledge on how to promote myself. Also, I wish I embraced social media as a tool to help reach my audience rather than battle with the “love-kinda-really-hate” relationship I used to have with it.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering turning their passion into a business?

Listen to your gut and follow your passion! Also, learn from others who have strengths in areas you don't have in order to run your business successfully. Do your homework and research while also giving yourself the grace that you are not expected to know it all, have all the answers, and be skilled in all facets that makes a business successful.

Do you have a favorite motivational quote?

“Comparison is the thief of joy” – Theodore Roosevelt and “Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever” – Gandhi

Anything else you’d like to share about your journey?

I often pinch myself when I think about what I get to do to earn income. I truly feel that I am living fully and following my passion by serving my community as a yoga teacher and retreat leader while also fulfilling my calling as a life partner, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and citizen.

What are you working on right now?

My upcoming retreat at Tailwind Jungle Lodge in February 2021! Also, with COVID’s arrival and the need to be creative in earning income, I have an on-line retreat in the works. Stay tuned!
