Walk Through This
/Sara’s red stilettos caught my eye in the mountains many years ago (stilettos in the mountains?! exactly). We recently connected as fellow HarperCollins authors. Sara Schulting-Kranz is a force of inspiration, empowerment and fresh perspective. Her new book, Walk Through This, will hit the shelves on Nov. 10th (pre-order now available!) and she has just emerged from 3 weeks of wilderness on the John Muir Trail in the Sierras (my favorite backpacking trip!!). Sara is definitely a kindred spirit.
Sara is not only a mountain babe, she is also redefining forgiveness; with nature therapy as the foundation (love it!). Through her remarkable and shocking story, Sara's experience and strength illuminate how a forgiveness practice is a beautiful tool for transformation and being truly ALIVE. Here’s my review of Sara’s forthcoming book, Walk Through This: Harness the Healing Power of Nature and Travel the Road to Forgiveness
Sara’s redefinition of forgiveness is needed now more than ever before. The collapse of spring 2020 has made it clear that trauma is part of being human. Through her remarkable and shocking story, Sara's experience and strength illuminate how a forgiveness practice is a beautiful tool for transformation and being truly ALIVE. Since reading this book, I've seen my life through a new lens--past, present and future. Though I've lived in the jungle for over a decade, this was a profound reminder of Mother Nature's healing power. Sara's natural and unconventional yet practical approach resonates deeply with me. Walk Through This definitely won't be collecting dust on my shelf! I'll be returning to this resource frequently and passing its wisdom onto my children as we all learn how to let go of negative feelings, practice kindness to ourselves (and others!) and create a better world. —Tamara Jacobi
Here’s a taste of Sara’s wild inspiration and wisdom:
Describe your perfect day as a Wildpreneur.
I love guiding clients in the outdoors! My perfect day is hiking with men + women, having deep conversations, meditating in nature + watching them transform within their life stories before my eyes. We cry, laugh, adventure + go deep in our thoughts and ideas while being in nature. Is there anything better?
Tell us about your wild business! What was your inspiration to create Live Boldly?
I am a life coach, wilderness guide, author + speaker. I’ve stood on a TEDx talk stage and spoken about forgiveness. I’m a survivor of multiple traumas, including sexual assault and relational/betrayal trauma. I believe in leading an adventurous life while learning from our life stories. Many of my clients have experienced hardships or traumas in life as well … my intention in starting this business is to have people understand that they are never alone. We are not the product of what happens to us - more so, it’s about what we do with the experiences we’ve been handed that matters. We live boldly through our experiences by finding truth, inspiration and hope in our everyday. I deeply believe in healing through nature therapy … and in order to do so, I believe that must feel everything, let go of our deepest pain, and find forgiveness in the process.
What do you wish you’d known prior to getting started as a Wildpreneur?
I wish I’d have known that I didn’t have to do it all at once. I wish I’d have known that I don’t have to do it all alone, that it’s ok to ask for help, to hand things off, and to know that guess what? YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KNOW IT ALL!!!!
What advice would you give to someone who is considering turning their passion into a business?
(smiling) Just DO IT. Take the step. For those who tell you that your idea is absurd or crazy? Laugh at the absurdity that anyone would dare to question you. Believe in your passion + many others will, too. For every idea, there are clients waiting for you to begin.
Do you have a favorite motivational quote?
To be honest, I don’t. What has been my “motivational quotes” are the words of affirmation I have received through these last six years from my three sons, Jacob (29), Carson (19) and Christian (14). They are why I do what I do. I look at their face when awake or asleep (yes, I still peak in on them) + that’s all I need to keep going. I love those guys more than my own breath.
Anything else you’d like to share about your journey?
My book will be out November 10th, titled “Walk Through This: Harness the Healing Power of Nature and Travel the Road to Forgiveness.” It’s my story, client stories, and how to come to a place of deep healing and setting yourself free to live a life of peace. I believe so deeply in forgiveness. I’ve had to forgive myself, so many others, and the world since I was 17 years of age. My stories range from police who refused to press charges and my rapist attempting to assault another woman, my counselor planning my son into foster care without my knowledge, and forgiving my husband of 17 years for betraying me most of our marriage without my knowledge. I couldn’t be happier in my life than I right now, all because of the power of FORGIVENESS. I believe that our world needs to access this practice more now than ever before.
What are you working on right now?
I am starting a monthly membership beginning January of 2021. I’m so excited about this! I believe deeply in community and this is where you will find it. There will be monthly trainings on everything from setting boundaries to nature therapy, there will be a Facebook group for discussions, expert interviews on trauma brain, healing, detaching, narcissism, dating, parenting, live coaching, etc. AND, it will be SUPER cost effective! I am EXCITED about this! We must begin to heal + be ripples of change for one another …
