From Motorcycle Accident to the Mindful Habits Academy

Sept. 29 is a memorable date for Amanda Palmer. On this day in 2009, she was in a motorcycle accident that changed her life. This fork in the road prompted Amanda to chase what makes her come alive. Decades later, she is thriving as a wellness expert. Tune into Amanda’s inspiration below and be sure to check out her upcoming 90 day program (available Oct. 26th).

Tell us about your wild business(s) and lifestyle! What was your inspiration to create Amanda Palmer Wellness/Mindful Habit Academy?

I’ve always known a regular 9-5 wasn’t right for me. I was in a motorcycle accident when I was 19 and my whole perspective on life changed. Life is too short to do things or be in a career that you don’t like. We are here to enjoy life! I started following things that lit me up. I went to school and became a certified welder. Later, I moved to North Carolina to be a whitewater rafting guide which led me to Costa Rica where I became a yoga instructor. In Costa Rica, I created my business and the Mindful Habits Academy. It’s a program that gives you the blueprint to live your life to the fullest without all of the second guessing and programming that most of us are raised with. I share my background to show that you don’t have to have it all figured out. Little by little with each step forward your path will unfold.

Do you have a favorite motivational quote?

“You can do anything, but not everything.” -David Allen

“You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.” -Angela Davis

Describe your perfect day as a Wildpreneur.

Wake up with the sun and start my morning routine. Journal, reading, yoga, and meditation. It sounds like a lot but only takes an hour. I love starting my day like this! It helps me to feel energized, calm, and ready for my day. Then I get to work, connecting with clients or creating content. I make sure to get outside often too. It’s a great way to reset throughout the day and move my body.

What do you wish you’d known prior to getting started as a Wildpreneur?

Where do I start? Haha. It’s a process and we all grow and learn in different ways. Being an entrepreneur is constantly stepping  outside of your comfort zone. It reveals where you can grow personally and professionally and asks you to level up daily. It’s one of the most challenging and rewarding adventures I’ve been on.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering turning their passion into a business?

Start! No you don’t need the fancy website or the color coded business cards. Start sharing your message. I wasted so much time on trying to make everything look “pretty”. Which was really me procrastinating. You are ready. You know enough. You have enough. Get started.

Anything else you’d like to share about your journey?

I wouldn’t be where I am today without community and support from others. Hire a coach, join a mastermind group, collaborate with other entrepreneurs, share with friends, reach out on social media, create your entrepreneur family. We succeed by learning from and lifting each other up.

What are you working on right now?

Right now, I’m creating a 90-day program that echoes my 6-week program but goes much deeper into behavioral change and mindset. It’s a 1-on-1 coaching program that gives you the blueprint to beat overwhelm, reduce anxiety, build confidence, and live your life with joy through daily mindful habits. It will be open for beta testing late October. If you’re interested shoot me an email hello@amandapalmerwellness.com for a reduced rate.
