Is this work your passion? What keeps you motivated?
My core passion is dance, and I started to pursue my passion as my career thanks to a serendipitous meeting with a business coach. This led me to become a business coach myself, and coaching others is now one of my favorite things! I’ve come to believe I’m meant to do far more than just dance. I believe in people’s dreams when they’re scared and want to give up. I give them the tools, accountability, and massive amounts of support they need to courageously create their wildly fulfilling and abundant life.
Did you make any personal sacrifices to get your businesses started? Any funny examples of living on a shoestring budget?
Starting my business was terrifying. As a first-generation entrepreneur, I’d say my personal sacrifice was my sanity! In the early days, I would sometimes get so scared about paying my rent, that I would have severe panic attacks. I would lay on the kitchen floor, put my hands on my stomach, and force myself to slow my breathing. The littlest things would send me into a stress spiral because everything was new and intimidating.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start their own wild business?
Talk to your customers. Talk to your customers before you start. Talk to them after they’ve used your product/service for a little while. Talk to them after they’ve used your product/service for a long while. If you make it your focus to make your customers blissfully delighted, your business will grow. You referrals will be off the chain! Remember, you have a relationship with your customers. They want you to win. They want you to delight them.In addition, get 2x the amount of support you think you need. There is never enough support when you are starting a business. Half of becoming successful is expanding your capacity to be with much more support. Get started now!
What do you wish you’d known prior to getting started?
The first few years you hustle. There’s no way around that. You need to hustle to build the momentum to carry you. Just because things aren’t working yet is 0% indication that you’re failing. Keep moving, keep talking to your customers, and keep creating strategic partnerships that light you up.
What’s your favorite part about being a wildpreneur?
I get to work from anywhere I want! It’s a blast to have that freedom, and I work really well on planes, so it’s productive too! It’s also allowed me to practice self-trust and self-love on a much deeper level. I’ve learned to trust my gut/intuition, and to create my way in a way that honors my spirit and body. I really believe us humans are first and foremost our spirits and bodies, then our logical thinking and emotions!
Describe your perfect day as a wildpreneur.
I wake up, snuggle with my amazing boyfriend, and then we make a beautiful, healthy breakfast together. After that, we head to the dance studio to work on a routine we’re creating. We eat a delicious lunch before we head back to the house. Once there, I work with a few of my business coaching clients. I love these people! And I look forward to the trips I have planned to visit them and see what they’re doing firsthand. I then chat with my colleague about our upcoming retreats, make a few social media posts and write a blog for my dance business to keep my SEO going strong. By then, it’s the evening and it’s time for a nice glass of pinot noir and a tasty dinner. Tonight I am dancing (obviously!) and my boyfriend and I are chatting about our upcoming dance trip that will be a total blast AND produce a new passive income product.
What was your inspiration to create Dance Adventures and/or your business coaching practice?
I wanted to started Dance Adventures for 8 years, but I was too terrified. I can’t say where the inspiration came from. The idea came to me one day and stuck. I believe that the universe put it there. Honestly, though, I don’t think that was the universe’s end game. I believe it was a starting point -- a catalyst for me becoming the person I am now. Entrepreneurship requires massive surrender, trust, and strength. It is a divine journey.
